Ethan's Birth Story

I was scheduled to have a repeat c-section on Friday, June 14th at 2:30pm. I had made my last day of work on Tuesday, and I planned on spending all day Wednesday with Katelyn, then I had multiple doctor's appointments and such on Thursday. Well, I woke up at 4:45am on Wednesday, June 12th and started the laborious process of rolling over in bed. As soon as I started moving, I had a lot of liquid come out, like I'd peed the bed. I didn't really think I would go into labor on my own, so I was pretty shocked. I reached over and shook Patrick and asked him if he was ready to have a baby. I called my parents to ask them to come over and take care of Katelyn and I called my doctor who told us to come in to the hospital. We started packing our bags to take with us, and once my parents arrived, we left. We stopped at McDonald's drive-thru on the way so Patrick could get breakfast, and I started having contractions then. Once we got to the hospital and were checked in, the contractions started getting worse and worse. Finally, a little before 8, I was wheeled into the operating room and received the spinal/epidural. They put up the sheets so I couldn't see and let Patrick come in. Not too long after, I heard them telling Patrick to stand up to see his son - I didn't even know they had started! When I had Katelyn, I felt a lot of tugging and pressure, but I felt nothing this time. They brought Ethan over to be weighed and cleaned off. He was born at 8:22am, and he was 8 lbs 15 oz and 20.5 inches. Patrick went over and took a bunch of pictures. After that, they brought Ethan over to me and held him up to me so I could touch him and he could try breastfeeding. After the doctors were done stitching me up, they brought Ethan up to the nursery and I had to go to recovery for an hour. Then we were brought up to my room. Ethan was brought over a little while later, and Katelyn came in to meet him. She said hi to him, then was more interested in everything else in the hospital room. My parents and Jessie and Diddy came in after a few minutes, and we all got to spend some time hanging out and holding Ethan. I stayed in the hospital for 3 nights, and the recovery was significantly more painful this time than with Katelyn. But I came home yesterday, and I am definitely feeling a lot better every single day. I will be following up this post with daily entries of pictures for Ethan (since I did that for Katelyn, I've gotta be fair!)
